The Poetry Games is the exciting new poetry contest from Young Writers.
We know how passionate young writers can be, so we have designed this contest to fully engage students and encourage them to read and write poetry. This pack is full of ideas and inspiration, including poetry techniques and topics to get their ideas flowing. We have been working with schools for the past 26 years and know that writing poetry can help develop literacy skills and offer students a way to express themselves.
Only one entry per student, though there is no limit to the number of entries sent in per school.
Poems cannot be any longer than 30 lines.
Poems can be on any subject and written in any style.
Poems must be students’ original work. (If the poem is inspired by a famous piece, please include this on their entry materials.)

Every school that enters receives a free copy of the book their students feature in.
