Let's start 2023 the way we mean to go on... by becoming eco poets and helping to share views about nature and the environment!

With climate change being a focus in education, it’s a fantastic opportunity for your pupils to share their thoughts on the world around them & for you to introduce this subject with ready-made resources.

Poems can be in any style and link to the environment in many cross-curricular ways, from litter, pollution and wildlife, to sustainability, conservation or exploring nature &
local landscapes.

Get your whole school engaged with caring for the environment and creating a better world for their future by writing a poem and giving their young voices a chance to be heard.

For every 30 entries you submit you get a free copy of the book your pupils feature in so every participating school receives at least 1 free copy.

We also have Poetry Stars open for primary schools, feel free to mix & match resources as you want to.

Closing date: Friday 10th February 2023.

 

[Rules] =>

Only one entry per pupil, there is no limit to the number of entries per school. Teachers please submit your entries altogether where possible!

Ask your pupils to write their poems (or an adult can scribe/type it), ensuring their name, age and school name are included.

Poems can be on the entry form or an A4 sheet of paper or typed (on a computer or in the Online Writing Portal).

Pupils' poems must be their own work!

Open to 5-11 year-olds.

Poems must be on the theme or inspired by nature / the environment.

Poems can be written in any poetic style/form.

The school that submits the best overall set of entries will win The Young Writers' Award of Excellence and your class will sponsor £100 of Oxfam Unwrapped projects which positively impacts communities worldwide.
